The Singles Group meets on the first Wednesday of each month for catching up and discussing the current book they’re reading. Special social events are held every month or two. Contact the church office for details on upcoming events. The singles group of East Brookfield Baptist church serves members of the church and the community focusing on people who have never been married, are widowed, or are divorced. We recognize that society as a whole, and the church in general, tends to have a couples-oriented view and forgets the unique needs of single people. We believe that God sees deep value in each individual as a complete human being. The formation of this singles ministry is not made with the intention of forming romantic relationships, but to focus on helping participants find their identity in Christ and understand His will for their lives. The group will allow those who attend to feel comfortable sharing experiences, thoughts and feelings with others. We desire to create an environment where singles can give and receive support, and find healing when necessary. We believe that singles are uniquely positioned to serve the church and community, and will seek opportunities to teach, encourage and uplift. Gatherings will consist of study, prayer, fellowship, friendship and fun in a relaxed environment. |
1. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. 2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 3. We believe in the Deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, His miraculous birth, His sinless life, His death and substitutionary atonement for our sins, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into Heaven, and His future return. 4. We believe that all humans were made in the image of God, but all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and consequently must be born again. 5. We believe that God is not desirous that any should perish but that He will save by His grace all who will repent of their sins and come to Him through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, as their personal Savior. 6. We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide. 7. We believe God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage shall be defined as between on man and one woman, genetically defined at birth, at taught in Scripture. No union shall be recognized by this church that does not conform to this biblical standard. 8. We believe that Christians should live for the glory of God and the well-being of others; that they should strive to be blameless before the world; that they should be faithful stewards of their possessions; and that they should seek to realize for themselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ. 9. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in to the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. |
Recognizing Jesus Christ as the only head of the church, this congregation shall seek to ascertain and to obey the will of our Lord in all matters of faith and practice. Authority to reach decisions for governing the affairs of this church being given to us by Christ, we hold that such authority and responsibility is vested in the active membership of the congregation. Therefore, all officers and committee members must be members of the church. In carrying out the wider ministry for which Christ made His church responsible, we shall cooperate with and be a member of the American Baptist Churches/ USA and Converge Worldwide.
The purpose of this congregation is to give visible form to that faith and fellowship to which God has called His people. We acknowledge ourselves to be a local manifestation of the Worldwide Christian Church in and through which Jesus Christ continues to minister to the world by His Holy Spirit. We shall seek to fulfill this calling through adherence to the Bible, God’s Holy Word; corporate worship services; Christian discipleship, whereby Christians are conformed into the likeness of Christ enabling the further proclamation of the gospel by word and deed; and through ministering to human need in the name of Christ.
